Step 1
Make sure your paintball gun has a good marker, fast hopper, large air tank and reliable air tank regulator before attempting suppression fire. You need these to establish a consistent flow of paintballs.
-
Step 2
Set yourself up toward the back of your team's territory. This broadens your field of vision and allows you to watch your teammates' movements before laying down your fire.
-
Step 3
Pick a small area of ground to cover with your fire. Suppression fire relies on quality, as well as quantity. Spreading your aim too thinly allows your opponents to return fire or break out of their defensive positions.
-
Step 4
Lay down your covering fire as quickly as you can. Ideally, you want to fire somewhere between 10 to 15 paintballs per second. This creates a massive cloud of paintballs that forces your opponents to stay down.
-
Step 5
Stop firing as soon as your teammates complete their invasion or your opponents have temporarily given up their advance. Suppression fire uses a boatload of ammunition, so avoid expending more paintballs than you need to properly cover your chosen area.
