Step 1
Remove the handle from the bathtub faucet. To do this remove the decorative cap from the faucet and use a phillips head screwdriver to loosen the screw. Pry the handle off of the faucet, and take care so you don't lose any of the loose parts.

Take off the plate that circles the faucet handle. You may need to pry it away from the wall with a flat head screwdriver. Take care not to scratch the plate.

Grasp the inner collar of the leaky bathtub faucet. Use a rubber jar opener or a towel to get a firm grasp on the collar as it is difficult to grip when wet. Repeat with the other collar if you have a separate one for hot and cold.

Step 4
Unscrew the inner collar and set it aside. If it is cracked or damaged it may be the cause of your leaky faucet and you will need to replace it. Repeat with other collar if necessary.
