Things You'll Need:
- Carburetor
- Wrenches
- Air filter
-
Step 1
Attach the fuel line to the new carburetor, but don't turn the fuel line on yet.
-
Step 2
Insert the bolt that holds the carburetor in place. Tighten the bolt just enough to hold the carburetor.
-
Step 3
Install the primer line. On most models, you either slip the line into a hole on the carburetor or over a small port. Depending on your mower, you may need to do this before you do Step 2.
-
Step 4
Tighten the bolt so the carburetor is now firmly in place. If the bolt is too loose, it could rattle as you start mowing and the hoses or the carburetor could come loose.
-
Step 5
Connect the breather hose to the carburetor. The breather hose is a part of the air filter. This hose goes into the carburetor or into a nylon joint. You can clean the air filter before replacing the breather hose if the filter is dirty.
-
Step 6
Bolt the back plate for the air filter onto the lawn mower. The back plate has three bolts; put them all on by hand. Once they're all in the right places, you can go back and tighten them with a wrench.
-
Step 7
Put the air filter back in place and tighten the nut.
-
Step 8
Turn the fuel line on, and test your lawnmower to make sure it runs properly.
