How to Gather the Equipment for Kiteboarding

Kiteboarding is a recreational activity that involves using a board attached to a kite to pull you along. You remain in motion when the wind conditions are ideal. If you are interested in taking up kiteboarding, you need to gather together certain equipment before you get started.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Go to a retailer that sells or rents kiteboarding equipment. One of the sales associates can help you pick out all the equipment that you need. If you are shopping for equipment online, check out the SBC Kiteboard website.

  2. Step 2

    Find a land board to use when kiteboarding. A land board looks similar to a surfboard or snowboard. The main difference is that there are inflatable tires on it. You might want a larger and wider board if you are just starting out.

  3. Step 3

    Pick a small kite to use when kite land boarding. When you are learning the basics of kiteboarding, a smaller kite helps you grow accustomed to the activity. Also, a smaller kite is better to us in a every strong wind.

  4. Step 4

    Get a harness to use with the kite. You attach the kite using the lines that come along with the harness.

  5. Step 5

    Bring along your additional accessories. You need a pump to inflate the tires and a wind meter to measure the wind speed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to gather safety equipment as well when kiteboarding. You should wear a helmet and pads to protect yourself while riding.
  • You may also want to bring along a small knife. If the kite gets tangled, you can easily cut the strings.
