1
Put your body weight on the balls of your feet, rather than at your heels when standing. This prevents pain or injury to your joints.
-
2
Unlock your knees. Slightly bend them while standing to avoid lower back pain.
-
-
3
Stand with your feet shoulder- and hip-width apart, and keep your arms relaxed at the sides. Raise your chest and shoulders in an upright, yet relaxed position.
-
4
Level your head so that it's aligned with your neck, shoulders and spine. Stay at eye level, and try not to move your head forward. When walking, remember to look straight ahead and not down.
-
5
Center your hips so that they align with your shoulders. Pull your abs in and up, then slightly curve your lower back forward. These movements can help you get rid of any belly bulge caused by poor posture.
-
6
Shift your weight whenever you get tired of standing in one position. Switch from your left foot to your right or move your feet from the heels to the toes to relax.
-
7
Exercise regularly. Stretch for toning and flexibility. Yoga or Pilates can help strengthen your spine, back, abs and other muscles and joints that need to be properly aligned. These exercises may also help you lose some inches around your waist and abs and make you taller.
