Step 1
Notice that the bit has a bearing on the end. The bearing rides the first piece of wood so that the blade can cut evenly with it.
-
Step 2
Clamp the boards down so that they are stable and secure. Position yourself so that you can pull the router toward you.
-
Step 3
Check for the movement of the bit. Make certain that the feed uses the power of the router to pull the wood through.
-
Step 4
Place the bearing even with the board that is the right height. Use the bearing as the guide and allow the blade on the flush cut bit in your router to even the two boards.
-
Step 5
Know that the flush cutting bit for your router is especially useful if you cut several pieces using a template. You simply make the rough cut slightly larger and use the bit to pare the piece so that it is a duplicate of the template. To do this, clamp the pieces together and allow the bearing to follow the pattern on the template. Always watch the router feed direction.

Step 6
Use the flush cut bit to trim laminate that projects beyond the board edge. In order to get that professional look to counter tops, trim the excess laminate away from the edge, using the technique in Step 4. Be sure the laminate is firmly glued in place. Clamp the top down. Run the flush cut bit on your power router along the side so it forms a perfect edge.
