Summer sandals are a staple for any woman's wardrobe. Adding a beautiful high heel to your sandal gives you a gorgeous look with lots of versatility to go from daytime to evening wear. Choose the proper style and heel height for your body to wear high-heeled sandals comfortably all summer long.

  1. Step 1

    Determine the height of heel you are comfortable with. Consider the outfit you are coordinating your sandals with as well as your own personal style and body. Some people cannot wear heels higher than two inches due to back or knee problems. A stylish sandal should also be a comfortable one. Save extremely high heels (over three inches) for the dressiest of occasions.

  2. Step 2

    Consider your body type and leg shape. Women with thick ankles should avoid sandals that accentuate this problem with laces or straps that go around the ankle. A lower cut shoe is more flattering to this body type. If you have bunions, you should choose a pair of sandals whose straps either avoid or comfortably conceal the bunion.

    Experiment with different materials. Sandals made of leather are universally flattering for day and evening wear and are very durable. Modern high-heeled sandals are made of any material: rubber, silk, canvas or even rhinestones. If you are going to be wearing your shoes in the hot summer months, natural materials allow your feet to breathe. Some materials are sturdier than others are. Save wispy satin sandals for weddings and nights out on the town.

  4. Step 4

    Practice walking in high heels. Sandals in particular, because of their strappy nature, can lack good foot support. Practice walking in your sandals in the store before you purchase them to make certain they offer enough support for you to walk comfortably and gracefully.
