A professional headshot makes all the difference in whether or not you can get an agent or get called to a casting audition. By getting a professional headshot you communicate to the agent, casting director and director that you want the job and that "I am a professional." Follow these steps to get a beauty model or acting head shot.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Realize you need a professional headshot if you want to get an acting job or modeling job in the industry.

  2. Step 2

Locate a professional photographer who knows what an industry headshot needs to look like in order for you to make an audition. Check his resume and portfolio carefully and ask for references.

  3. Step 3

Determine if the professional photographer takes the right kind of headshots. Look over her background history. Look through her portfolio and see if the headshots and three-quarters shots appeal to you.

  4. Step 4

Stay with black and white headshots. Traditionally, black and white get attention. The makeup needs to be different for black and white shots than for color shots. The photographer knows this and usually provides a makeup person for your photo session.

  5. Step 5

Ask the photographer to give you a proof sheet of at least 24 shots to pick your favorite headshot. Make 100 headshot copies from the master copy. A wise photographer helps his clients pick the best shot.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear a nice sweater with your hair styled professionally.
  • Wear very little jewelry. Tiny pieced earrings work, but stay away from necklaces.
  • Bring a couple of changes of clothes to see if the photographer or makeup person feels one outfit works better than another or a different combination of clothes works better.
