1
Comb the hair with a wide-tooth comb to remove any snarls and tangles. Then comb it with the narrow tooth comb to make sure even the tiniest tangle has been removed because even small tangles will create problem when you begin French braiding. Apply a bit of hair gel or mousse to keep wisps and stray hairs under control.
-
2
Part your hair evenly down the middle of your head with the rat tail comb. Starting on one side of the head, divide the hair into three equal sections to begin braiding.

3
Braid the hair for two or three crossovers, holding the main section tightly as you work and making sure the hair is smooth. Once you get to the third or fourth crossover, separate a small section of hair with the tail of the rat tail comb.
-
4
Alternate from side to side and add a section each time you cross over the middle section.
-
5
Continue until you are at the end of the hair and secure the braid with a soft ponytail holder.

6
Repeat the process on the other side.
