How to Pick Hair Accessories For Young Girls

If you know any young girls between the ages of 8 and 14, you'll know that they love to fuss over their appearance. One particular area that young girls focus on is their hair. From headbands to hair bows, young girls love hair accessories. If you have or know a young girl, help them pick out accessories that are right for their hair.

1. Choose accessories that are right for the young girls' hair length. Scrunchies and elastic ponytail holders work for long hair, while clips and bows can be used in shorter hair lengths.
2. Try different hairstyles with each accessory. For instance, if you're using ponytail holders, you can make one long ponytail in the back or two pigtails on either side of the girl's head.
3. Select hair accessories that are designed for young girls. Brightly-colored plastic hair clips or barrettes, that come in shapes such as flowers, butterflies or hearts, will be of interest to young girls.
4. Decorate hair accessories to make them more appealing to young girls. For example, you can glue artificial flowers or beads to a plain headband, elastic ponytail holder or hair clip.
5. Make your own hair accessories. Use string or ribbon with plastic beads, bows and pins to help the girl create her own look.
