Things You'll Need:
- Brush
- Ponytail holder
- Hairpins
- Hairspray
-
Step 1
Dry your hair until it's completely dry or slightly damp. Brush your hair straight back or parted to the side. Make sure the hair is smooth.
-
Step 2
Secure your hair into a tight ponytail. Where you put the ponytail holder is where the bun will be. You can make it high on your head, at the nape of your neck or anywhere in between.
-
Step 3
Grasp the ponytail with one hand. Twist the ponytail clockwise until you have a tightly coiled rope of hair.
-
Step 4
Twirl the coil of hair around the ponytail holder in a clockwise direction. Keep twisting and twirling around the ponytail holder until all the hair is all wrapped around it.
-
Step 5
Tuck the end of the hair under the ponytail holder. Place one hairpin at each side of the twist bun. Be sure to push the pin in so that it catches the underneath part of the hair and isn't visible.
-
Step 6
Brush down loose pieces of hair against the bun. Spray into place.
-
Step 7
Experiment with different sized pins. If your hair is thick, you probably need large pins. Use smaller, tighter pins for fine hair. You can also use chopsticks and other hair accessories to secure a bun.
