1
Start out with clean and well-conditioned hair and brush any tangles out before you begin. Rub a small amount of gel between your fingers and work it into the hair to make it easier to work with and tame the frizzies.
-
2
Bring the hair up into a ponytail and slide the hair band or scrunchie around the base of the ponytail, making sure it's tightly secured. Keep the spray bottle handy in case you need to dampen hair slightly as you work.

3
Roll the ponytail under into a loop, keeping it neat and smooth.
-
4
Pin the loop securely with hair clips or bobbie pins, leaving out a small strand if you want to cover the hair band. Once the bun is secure, wrap the strand of hair around the band and clip it underneath where it won't show.
-
5
Mist the looped bun lightly with hairspray to help hold it securely in place.
