Step 1
Braid the hair when it is damp to have more control and to tighten the braid as it dries. Comb the hair so that it is perfectly smooth before beginning.
-
Step 2
Spray the hair with gel or hairspray before braiding to add body and to lock the hair into place as it dries. Ask an assistant to spray the hair with a setting lotion or refresh it with a fine mist of rose water as the braiding continues.
-
Step 3
Dampen the hair with a fine mist of hairspray. Use one hand and press down over the French braid while using a blow drying to dry the hairspray and secure any fine hairs.
-
Step 4
Use a bit of pomade or hair wax on the finished braid to secure any flyaway ends. Place a small amount of pomade in the palm of the hand and work it for a few minutes between the hands to emulsify it before applying it to the hair. Press the product onto the braid.
-
Step 5
Control frizzy ends with a little shine product or oil. Pat or spray the product onto the finished braid and then press it into the hair while using a blow dryer.
-
Step 6
Keep stray ends in place with hairspray. Use the end of a rat-tail comb to push the stray ends back into the braid and then finish with extra-hold hairspray.
