Step 1
Consider your budget. Laser hair removal is permanent, yet quite costly. Simple razors are cheap, but often require daily use. Waxing is either a less expensive do-it-yourself option or a pricey day spa experience. Whatever you choose, make sure it's within your budget.
-
Step 2
Determine your skin type and choose a removal method accordingly. Threading, for example, is great for those facial areas with acne or those with sensitive skin. Tweezing is also good for sensitive skin. Waxing, however, can exacerbate ingrown hairs if you're prone to them and lasers aren't especially good for people with certain skin colors.

Step 3
Measure your pain tolerance. Lasers, waxing, threading and tweezing all have some amount of discomfort. However, methods like depilatories and shaving are painless. If you are a wimp, choose a method that doesn't burn the hair or rip it out at the root.

Step 4
Decide how much time you'd like to devote to the removal method. Those who want immediate results with little effort may not do well with the multiple sessions it takes to have a laser remove hair, even if the method is permanent. Waxing might not be for someone who isn't good at scheduling monthly appointments and keeping them. Threading and tweezing are quick fixes and always readily available for those with little time to spare.
