You've taken the time to choose the perfect Halloween costume, now take the extra steps to make it look its best. If you're going as a ghost, keep the effect sleek, scary and safe by wisely choosing what you wear beneath it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Measure and trim the sheet to your exact height. It will look comical if it's too short, exposing your ankles and shoes. Conversely, a sheet that's too long can pose a safety hazard.
Step2
Apply white stage makeup to the area around your eyes exposed by the holes in the sheet. Ensure the openings are large enough to enable you to see clearly.
Step3
Maintain a sleek line by wearing slim clothing beneath the sheet. Avoid shirts with collars, thick cuffs or buttons that will look lumpy. Eliminate accessories like belt buckles, hair clips, bracelets, cell phones on belt clips and large earrings that will also protrude through the costume.
Step4
Wear light-colored clothing underneath the ghost costume, particularly if you're using a thin sheet. Dark colors and patterns will show through easily, whereas white, off-white or light gray will be less visible.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your costume clean by slipping it on at the last minute. Consider cutting a second sheet to size as a backup in case you damage the first.
  • If you'd rather not wear the traditional sheet, create a ghost costume by wearing all-white clothing, accessories, gloves, wig and face makeup instead.
  • Never wear your ghost costume while driving or crossing a busy street since it can impede your vision and mobility.
