Most women choose sedate lipstick shades for school or office wear, like pink, beige or plum. Once the work day ends, it's time to break out of the conservative color mold and try flashier shades on your lips for night. Here's a list of ways to experiment with lip color for a night on the town or at home with your Significant Other.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lipstick brush
  • Lipstick
  • Plastic container
  • Toothpick
  1. Step 1

Wear daring colors. Many shades with purple or blue tones look gorgeous at night. Apply them over a base lipstick or primer to create a glamorous look.

  2. Step 2

Apply lipstick with a brush. The color glides on smoothly and evenly with a brush and lets you distribute the amount you want to each area.

  3. Step 3

Layer different shades. Coat the lips with the first shade, usually a light or neutral tone and then apply a thin coat of a darker color on top of it. Experiment with two or three colors for best results.

  4. Step 4

Mix lip colors prior to applying them for a high fashion night look. Use a clear plastic top or container and mix bits of lipstick from nearly empty tubes together using a toothpick. When you mix lipsticks in a container, combine as many colors as you want to create a signature lip color to wear to a nightclub or party.

  5. Step 5

Buy lip color from the dollar rack at the drugstore. Choose from a variety of flashy bargain lipsticks with night appropriate shades like frosted gold or light green. Inexpensive brands offer a wider selection of bright and metallic tones and stick to the lips longer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Apply brown or beige to dim bright colors when you layer them.
  • Use a clear gloss over lipstick to make lips shine.
