Hot stone massage is a form of therapy that uses smooth warm stones to relax the body and soothe tight muscles. Extremely pleasurable for your client and a great way to rest your hands and fingers, hot stone massage will quickly become a favorite for you and your clients. A few simple tips can teach you how to perform farewell strokes and send your client off calm, relaxed and refreshed.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Address the entire back when completing your hot stone massage, in order to clear the energy and prepare the client for the end of the massage. It is also a good idea to address the neck as part of your farewell strokes, as the neck is usually one of the most stressed parts of the body.

  2. Step 2

Begin the farewell strokes by holding the stones in the crook of the neck. Work the stones up and then down the sides of the neck gently, continuing down the length of the spine. Sweep the stones around the curves of the hips and then back up along the spine.

  3. Step 3

Move the stones along the tops of the shoulder blades, over the shoulders and then down the arms. Come back up to your beginning position at the neck and repeat. Make your movements continuous, slow and gentle and apply the stones with even pressure. Repeat at least five farewell strokes before ending the massage.

  4. Step 4

Complete the massage by setting the stones aside and lightly massaging the scalp and head with your fingertips, another great way to help energize your client and prepare them for the rest of their day.
