How to Wax a Face
Facial waxing removes fine hairs from a woman's face, leaving her skin clear and smooth. Some women prefer to wax only their upper lip and eyebrows, while others have their chin and cheeks waxed also. When done correctly, waxing removes all unwanted hair without damaging the skin. 1
Choose the correct product. Facial waxing kits include smaller tools than regular waxing kits, allowing you to spread the wax in restricted areas. Some include facial moisturizers designed to calm your skin after waxing.
-
2
Prepare your face. Wash and dry your face completely but don't exfoliate. Use a gentle cleanser to remove any traces of makeup that might affect the adhesive property of the wax.
-
-
3
Trim any hairs longer than ¼ inch. This applies mainly to the sideburn area of your face. Fine hairs here can grow up to an inch long. Trim them to ¼ inch before waxing.
-
4
Warm the wax as directed on your product's instruction label. Test a small amount on the inside of your wrist to make sure it isn't too hot for your face.
-
5
Spread with the enclosed spatula in the direction of the hair growth. Apply a thin layer in a single smooth motion, using a small amount of the warm wax.
-
6
Immediately apply the linen strip (if included). Some kits come without strips.
-
7
Pull your skin tight with one hand while you very quickly peel the wax from your face in one fast motion. Grab the end of the waxed strip and pull in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
-
8
Gently cleanse your face after waxing and apply a facial cream to sooth reddened skin. Wait for 24 hours before using any exfoliating product.
