One negative side to cleansing your skin is that soap strips your skin of its moisture and oils. You can restore everything that's lost by using a toner. Toner is an astringent which restores the pH of the skin. It closes your pores, tightens your skin and keeps it protected from environmental toxins.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Toner
  • Cotton balls or pads
  • Paper towel or tissue
Step1
Select a toner that's appropriate for your skin type. They are usually categorized for oily, normal or dry skin. The difference is the amount of alcohol in the toner. You can also find toners without alcohol.
Step2
Dab some toner onto a cotton ball or pad. Start with the skin above your breasts. Gently apply the toner to the skin, re-wetting the cotton ball as needed.
Step3
Work your way up the neck, dragging the cotton pad along the skin. Always use an upward motion to avoid causing the skin to sag.
Step4
Apply the toner to every part of your face. Go across the forehead, down the temples to your chin.
Step5
Run the toner under your eyes and over the cheek area. Pay close attention to the creases around your nostrils and in your chin.
