Using a daily facial moisturizer, especially with a SPF, is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. They lock in moisture, protect your skin from the harsh environment and keep your skin looking soft and radiant.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a moisturizer for your skin type. If you have oily skin and need a moisturizer use one that's oil free, otherwise, find a moisturizer that goes on smooth, smells good and won't leave your skin feeling greasy. Get samples of different moisturizers until you find the right one for you.

  2. Step 2

Wear a moisturizer with at least a SPF 15 for the day. This prolongs the damaging effects of the sun, such as sun spots and premature wrinkles. If your skin is extra sensitive or you're taking certain medications find a moisturizer with a higher SPF.

  3. Step 3

Clean your hands and face with soap and warm water, then pat dry with a clean towel.

  4. Step 4

Squeeze a liberal amount of moisturizer into the palm of your hands.

  5. Step 5

Use your ring finger to apply moisturizer to the sensitive skin around your eyes. Lightly massage the lotion in until it's absorbed into the skin. Rubbing the skin around the eyes too hard can cause dark circles.

  6. Step 6

Apply the moisturizer with your fingertips in an upward stroking motion to the rest of your face and neck ensuring that every part of the skin has been covered and the moisturizer is completely absorbed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Unless your daytime lotion has a SPF there's no need for a thicker night cream before you go to bed.
  • If your moisturizer causes burning or irritation, discontinue use and find a new product.
