Your eyes are an excellent feature to highlight when applying makeup. With the help of creams and powders, you can change your entire look just by making up your eyes. Just like you do with the rest of your face, you need to prepare your eyelids for color. The skin on your eyelids is thin so it may show veins and discoloration. Follow these steps to prepare for color.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Exfoliate and cleanse the skin. Gently rub your face cleanser over your eyelids, making sure to remove any traces of yesterday's makeup. You can also use a makeup removal cloth.

  2. Step 2

Apply moisturizer to your face and your eyelids. Allow time for the moisturizer to seep into your skin and dry.

  3. Step 3

Pour a small amount of liquid base makeup onto your fingertip. Gently dab it onto the eyelid, starting with the inside corner and working your way out.

  4. Step 4

Go over the eyelids a few times with the foundation, dabbing as you go. Make sure you're covering the entire lid, from the lash line up to the eyebrows.

  5. Step 5

Use a makeup sponge if you prefer. It allows for even coverage.

Tips & Warnings
  • Fix puffy eyes by applying Preparation H cream to your eyelids at night. It tightens the skin.
  • Get into the habit of applying eye cream to your eyelids and under eye area at night.
  • Don't pull hard at the skin on your eyelids. It's very thin and sensitive.
