Many young people like to customize their cars with neon lights. In actuality, these lights can be distracting to other drivers. Cars covered in neon lights make it difficult for oncoming traffic to see the headlights. The use of lights on a car requires maturity.

Things You'll Need:

  • Spare replacement bulbs
  1. Step 1

Check the lights to see if they are working. Car lights are there for a reason. If they don't work, it's dangerous.

  2. Step 2

Determine if the weather requires your car lights to be on. If it's foggy, dusk, rainy or snowy, drive with your car lights on low beam.

  3. Step 3

Select high beam lights when you are on the road without oncoming traffic. Switch your car lights to low beam when you meet a car on the road.

  4. Step 4

Decide if you want to have your car lights come on automatically when the lighting changes from bright to dark. Many newer cars have a setting that decides when the car should have its lights on or not.

  5. Step 5

Repair any broken tail, brake or headlights as soon as they are broken. A broken light is a reason for police to pull you over and it can cause an accident.

  6. Step 6

Make sure that the battery is fully charged and providing enough strength for total brightness.

  7. Step 7

Scrub corrosion off battery terminals and check cables. A good connection with the battery is essential for headlights and brake lights.

Tips & Warnings
  • Each time you get in the car, check to see if your brake lights and headlights are working and not cracked.
  • A cracked light casing can cause water to short circuit the electrical system for the light.
