When you have curly hair, you often use a lot of product on it when styling. Girls with curly hair use gel, mousse, pomade and hairspray to keep their curls from getting out of control. However, you should not leave excess product in your hair when styling.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take your hair out of any bands or clips. It should hang loose when you are applying the product.

  2. Step 2

Squeeze the styling product through the hair to form your curls. This is going to spread the product out so that you don't have build up at one spot.

  3. Step 3

Towel dry your hands as you work through your curly hair. You want to avoid putting product back into your hair while you're squeezing.

  4. Step 4

Use a hair dryer with a diffuser attachment. As you dry your hair, some more of the product is removed. You can air dry the hair as well, but you need to wait longer and you still may have product build up.

  5. Step 5

Remove the product completely by washing your hair. Once you wish to restyle your hair, you need to shampoo the product out of your hair. When it is damp, you can apply new product.

Tips & Warnings
  • It's important to use a diffuser when drying your hair. Otherwise, you can end up with frizzy hair despite the product.
  • Don't use too many different hair products at the same time when styling curly hair. For everyday use, most women simply put in gel.
