Things You'll Need:
- Dust mask
- Static strap
- Screwdriver
- Compressed air
-
Step 1
Unplug your computer from all electrical outlets and other components, and take it to a well-ventilated area.
-
Step 2
Reduce the risk of static that can harm you and your computer by wearing a static strap as you are cleaning your computer. You can also touch the back of the case to rid yourself of built-up static electricity and reduce movement as you are cleaning.
-
Step 3
Use a screwdriver to remove the back of the case from the computer. Keep the screws in a safe place where you will not lose them as you are cleaning.
-
Step 4
Spot the dusty spots inside your computer so you know where to clean. Dust seems to build up, especially around the fans in your computer.
-
Step 5
Hold the can of compressed air as far away from the computer as you can while still being able to get rid of the dust. Spray the compressed air in short blasts to clean off the dust that has collected inside your computer.
-
Step 6
Use the compressed air to lightly clean any other areas of your computer's interior including the case vents, memory sticks, video card, battery and ports.
-
Step 7
Attach the back of the case onto the computer after you have finished cleaning it. You may now carefully set the computer back up again, plugging it into the electrical outlet and other computer components.
