Greeting cards communicate thoughtful expressions for the holidays, but plain greeting cards are boring and unexciting. Making photo pop-up greeting cards at home is one way to spend time with family members and express your inner artist.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Fold the 5 x 8-inch index card in half. Now cut a sheet of construction paper that is the same size, 5 x 8 inches, as the index card. This will serve as the under liner.

  2. Step 2

Cut two 1-inch long cuts on the folded end of the index card.

  3. Step 3

Open the card up and bend it backward and forward to make the fold more workable. The cuts made will look like a small step.

  4. Step 4

Apply the picture to the small step in the card. Do this easily with a bit of Elmer's glue applied to the back of the picture. Gently press the picture into the side of the step that is on the bottom when the card is closed. This will create the greatest pop-up effect.

  5. Step 5

Attach the under liner to the outside of the card using Elmer's glue. This will cover up the cuts made on the index card.

  6. Step 6

Decorate the photo pop-up greeting card. Try using rubber stamps and ink or stickers or acrylic paint.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try cutting different shapes, such as hearts or stars, out of construction paper to glue onto the card.
