Break dancing is not just a style of dance but a means for a person to express themselves through a unique art of motion set to music. When someone learns to break dance everything starts with the footwork, which is the basis for all break dancing moves. A motion that illustrates this in break dancing is the 6-step footwork move.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin with all 4 limbs of the dancer placed on the dance floor. The chest is facing downward toward the floor and the arms and legs are relatively straight.

  2. Step 2

Move the left foot between the right foot and hand. As the left foot moves between the right arm and leg, lift the right arm off the dance floor.

  3. Step 3

Shift the right foot to the front and beside the left foot. Then rotate the right hand up and over the body, so that you are now on all fours again but facing up instead of down.

  4. Step 4

Straighten out the right leg in front of the dancer and at the same time raise the left off the dance floor. Keep in mind that this is 1 fluid motion and not 2 separate dance moves.

  5. Step 5

Swing the right leg around towards the left side of the break dancer. At the same time, lift the left leg high enough so the right leg can travel underneath it.

  6. Step 6

Bring the hands and legs back and return to the original break dancing position, completing the 6-step footwork move in break dancing.
