Balloon modeling has been enjoyed by children of all ages for years; however, this art is as fun for the artist as it is for the audience. Twisting and transforming balloons into fun shapes and characters is a fantastic way to exercise your creativity. Whether you are just starting out in balloon modeling or are an experienced artist, you will love creating a cute balloon teddy bear.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Long orange balloon
  1. Step 1

Inflate a long orange balloon so that about 5 inches of excess balloon is left uninflated at the end. Twist a small 1-inch bubble into the knotted end of the balloon. Twist 1 more equally sized bubble after the first small bubble.

  2. Step 2

Create a bubble chain with alternating sizes. Begin by making a larger 2-inch bubble and then a 1-inch bubble. Continue the chain until you have 3 2-inch bubbles and 2 1-inch bubbles, not including your first 2 bubbles near the knotted end. Bring the ends of the 2 2-inch bubbles together to form a circle and twist them together.

  3. Step 3

Push the first bubble through the center of your loop chain to create the bear nose. The second bubble should hang down to create the neck. Hold one of the 1-inch bubbles and twist carefully, joining the 2 twisted ends, then repeat with the second 1-inch bubble. You should now see your teddy bear character's head, nose and ears.

  4. Step 4

Fold about 4 inches of the extra balloon in half and twist near the base of the neck bubble. Repeat the same loop fold a second time. You can now see your teddy bear character's arms.

  5. Step 5

Pinch the balloon about 3 inches below the arms and twist, creating the bear body. Again, pinch the balloon about 3 inches below the body, twist and fold the balloon back up. Pinch and twist the balloon together so that you have 2 3-inch bubbles together forming the legs. Push the excess bubble of air between the legs to the back of your teddy bear to create the tail.
