Balloon modeling is an entertaining hobby for the artist and audience alike. Enjoyed by children of all ages, balloon modeling can be a great way to exercise your creative side, twisting and transforming regular balloons into fun shapes and characters. Whether you are just starting out in balloon modeling or are an experienced sculptor, you will love creating a fun balloon pig.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Long pink balloon

Step1
Inflate a long pink balloon about half way, as you need the extra space to create multiple twists.
Step2
Make your pig nose with a tulip twist by pressing the tip of your finger against the knot at the end of the balloon and pushing your finger into the balloon. Insert your finger just about an inch or so and then press the knot against the outside of the balloon. Grasp the knot through the balloon with your other hand and then release your finger. Twist a small bubble into the balloon, just above the knot to hold the tulip twist in place.
Step3
Twist a small bubble just below and about the same size as the tulip twist. Create a chain of 5 bubbles of alternating sizes, twisting a 2-inch bubble first, followed by a 1-inch bubble. Continue the chain with alternating sizes until you have 3 2-inch bubbles and 2 1-inch bubbles, not including the tulip twist and first bubble.
Step4
Place the ends of the first and last 2-inch bubbles together and twist to secure. Feed the tulip twist and following bubble through the center of your bubble chain. Grasp a 1-inch bubble and twist, bringing the 2 twisted ends together, and repeat with the second 1-inch bubble. You should now see your pig character's head, nose and ears.
Step5
Form the front legs of your pig by twisting a 2-inch bubble into the excess balloon. Fold the balloon up until it is even with the top of the 2-inch bubble and twist them together.
Step6
Create the pig body by making a 3 bubble roll through. Twist a 2-inch bubble with the extra balloon and then fold the balloon over and twist again to create 2 2-inch bubbles. Again, fold the balloon down and twist, creating the third 2-inch bubble. Push the third bubble through the center of the first 2 to secure it in place.
Step7
Split the extra inflated balloon in half with a twist, fold the loose end up and twist again to create the back legs. Leave the extra uniflated balloon for your pig character's tail.
