Balloon modeling may be as fun for the balloon artist as it is for their audience, twisting and transforming regular balloons into fun shapes and characters. While there are an infinite number of ways to make bodies for your balloon characters, a few simple tricks can show you how to create a new type of balloon body; the bow twist body.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Long modeling balloon
  1. Step 1

Inflate a long balloon so that there is about an inch of uniflated balloon at the end. Create a loop with your balloon by tying the 2 ends together using the knot and excess balloon. You will find this style of body useful in creating a number of balloon characters.

  2. Step 2

Fold the balloon in half with the knotted end at 1 side and pinch at the center crease. Hold the balloon where you pinched at the center and twist the top half to create 2 long bubbles.

  3. Step 3

Hold the 2 portions of the balloon about a third of the way from 1 end and twist the 2 portions together. You should now have 1 large loop and 1 small loop.

  4. Step 4

Slip the large loop through the center of the small loop as far as possible and arrange the balloons until even. You should now be able to see your character's torso, arms and legs. You can now attach any style head you like to your bow twist bodies to create a number of balloon characters.
