How to Use Toner for Acne

By eHow Contributing Writer

To effectively get rid of acne, you need to develop a regular skin care regimen. After you have washed your face with an acne fighting cleanser, you need to put toner on your skin. You use the toner to balance out your skin and prevent future break outs from occurring.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase a toner to use as part of your skin care routine. If you're using an acne fighting system, consider the toner from Proactiv or Arbonne. If you are not planning on purchasing a set, try the Murad Clarifying Toner.

  2. Step 2

Dry your face after you wash it. Once dried, apply the facial toner.

  3. Step 3

Place a small amount of the toner on a cotton ball. Start to rub the cotton ball over your face. Pay extra attention to acne prone areas like the cheeks and the nose.

  4. Step 4

Leave the toner on your face after you apply it. Your skin should feel soft as the balance is restored to the area. Follow the facial toner with a moisturizer.

  5. Step 5

Repeat the process twice a day. In order to fight acne, wash and tone your face once in the morning and once in the evening.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may need a toner designed for sensitive skin if you are prone to skin reactions. If this is the case, try the Vitamin C Facial Toner.
  • Stop using the facial toner if you seem to develop more acne break outs after use. You may need to switch products and find a new type to use.
