How to Attach the Handle for Luggage Tags

Luggage bags seem to all look alike on the carousel at the airport. Black suitcases, black bags, all the same. You'll never have to go through all the suitcases again after you finish sewing your own one-of-a-kind luggage tags. These handles are so easy to attach and your bags will stand out from the crowd.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 2 x 14 inch strip of fabric. Use bright, bold or busy colors.

    • 2

Fold it in half and iron it inside out. Open it. Bring each edge to the creased fold and then iron that in place. Fold that in half and iron down.

    • 3

Sew each side and the bottom about an 1/8 of an inch. Sew a piece of clear plastic onto the tag, leaving one end open to slide in an index card with all your information written on it.

    • 4

Cut out the tag handles. You can use strips of the same fabric. You don't want these to be too thick or they won't loop around the luggage handle easily. Sew them together to make them sturdy or you can also use strips of ribbon.

    • 5

Attach the tag handles to the top of the tag that hasn't been sewn yet. Stick the two ends of the handle inside, forming a loop.

    • 6

Fold the edges of the tag inside and press with an iron. Sew straight across to secure the ribbon or fabric handle. Backstitch at both ends for added strength.
