Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Insert a small corner of the card between the first finger and the middle finger. This provides the reference point for your other fingers.
-
Step 2
Place your thumb on the middle of the card with your ring finger on the bottom underneath both the thumb and the card. This holds the card and gives you control when you learn the playing card throw. Your first finger and the middle finger are still gripping the corner of the card.
-
Step 3
Cock your wrist back to a 90-degree angle. Since most of the action is from the cocked wrist, this part is particularly important when you learn the playing card throw.
-
Step 4
Release the card and straighten your wrist at the same time. Make certain that your first finger is pointed in the direction that you want the throw to go. There should be a little spin on the card as you release it.
-
Step 5
Coordinate the wrist with the release from the fingers. The closer the two are together, the more the card will spin as it makes its way to the recipient.
-
Step 6
Practice the playing card throw to improve both your aim and the spin. Once you get proficient in the throw, you can add a little elbow action. You do this by cocking your elbow at a 90-degree angle and straightening it at the same time. The action only increases the amount of spin and the wow factor in the pitch.
