Step 1
Use pliers to slide the clips down the fuel line so you can remove it from the tank. Plug the hole with your finger and wiggle the tank free. Empty the gas into a gas can and return the tank to your mower.

Step 2
Run the mower until the gas tank is empty. This works best if your mower is near the end of the tank. Fill your tank only halfway toward the end of the growing season so that removing gas this way doesn't take too long.

Step 3
Siphon the remaining gas from your lawnmower's fuel tank into a gas can. You can use a turkey baster or purchase a siphoning kit, either will work just as well.

Step 4
Combine siphoning with running the mower out of fuel if your tank is nearly full, or if you want to remove any remaining fuel from the lines.
