    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Swivels
    • Baits
    • Bobbers
    • Fish Lures
    • Fishhooks
    • Fishing Lines
    • Fishing Reels
    • Fishing Rods
    • Floaters
    • Jigs
    • Sinkers
      • 1

Attach the reel to your fishing pole. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

      • 2

Put a line on the reel (see "How to Put a New Line on a Fishing Rod").

      • 3

Decide what type of bait or lures would be good for the type of fish you're after. Ask bait shop owners for their input.

      • 4

Attach clamp sinkers to the line. A good placement point is about 1 foot above the bait.

      • 5

Use a swivel if you're using snelled hooks, which are hooks with about 8 inches of line with a loop ready to attach to the swivel.

      • 6

Tie single hooks directly onto the line.

      • 7

Tie on lures and jigs if you're not using a swivel.

      • 8

Attach a bobber or floater, if needed, depending on the depth you wish to fish.

for redward: 1.maybe the crank is rusted.open the reel and check. 2.perhaps the line got into the rotor and wrapped itself along the shaft.remove the spool and look into it. 3. open the reel houisng and see if anything blocks the gears. the oscialltor might have been detached from the main gear. 4.dismantle everything as a last resort and saee if anything is broken. hope this will help.

inconsistencies i noticed (or am i wrong?) 1.put a line on the reel (after you have attached the reel to the rod.new line?)how about threading the line through the guides? omitted? 2.tie on lures and jigs (both plural)(after tying hooks (also plural)!? there is one line only. 3. ask bait shop owners (after you have decided what type of lures...)what about if you are doing this at home, do you go to the shop? correct sequence?
