Azureus is a great tool to use to download bit torrent files. Once you have them downloaded, install both Azureus and the Java Runtime Environment, and then you will be ready to download torrent files with Azureus.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Azureus client
  • Java Runtime Environment
  1. Step 1

Open the "Azureus" program by clicking on the "Azureus icon" on your desktop or in your "Start" menu.

  2. Step 2

Find a torrent you would like to download. The "Azureus" website has numerous torrents that you can choose from. Alternatively, use a search engine to find torrent listing websites and browse these for torrents of interest.

  3. Step 3

Pick a torrent and click its download link. You will be prompted to choose what to do with the file. Choose to open it with your Azureus.

  4. Step 4

Wait for the download to complete. First, the file is added to Azureus' download list, and then a tracker begins to connect you to peers and seeds in the bit torrent file sharing network.

  5. Step 5

Leave the downloaded file open to share it with other people who are downloading the same torrent file. This helps the peer-2-peer the file sharing community.

Tips & Warnings
  • When choosing a torrent file, you can greatly enhance the download speed by picking a torrent with as many seeds as possible. Seeds are people who upload a complete copy of this file.
  • Although your download will begin immediately, the process may be slow in the beginning. However, as you build up connections, the download will go faster.
  • Always download torrents from a reputable, reliable website to avoid adware and spyware.
