How to Shade a Teddy Bear Drawing
Once you have finished drawing the outline of your teddy bear, you are ready to add shading. Shading will add dimension and personality to your teddy bear and give it the illusion of three-dimensionality instead of a flat figure.

1
Take a dark pencil and make short lines in the same direction around the bottom on the nose by following the existing outline. Press down very lightly with the pencil so that the lines still appear a light grey. Use the same technique around the eyes and the chin on the teddy bear's face.
-
2
Move to the stomach lines and darken the lines around the belly area with same light strokes but make them slightly longer along the curve to emphasize the roundness. Do the same to the arms and continue to shade in the same direction.

3
Draw shadows under the legs of the bear by pressing down slightly harder and making your lines curve a little to emphasize the shadow. Draw the same shadows under the stomach area and underarms where the underside of the bear would have deeper shadows to contrast with the light at the front.
-
4
Go over the lines on the chin again but start with darker lines at the sides near the ears and make your strokes lighter as they come to the front of the curve to accentuate the shape.
-
5
Use short curved lines to trace all the outer lines of the teddy bear so that they highlight all the features. Copying over the lines should make them blur into the new lines you are making, giving the appearance of fur on the teddy bear.
