How to Make a Fake Bullet Wound With Special Effects Halloween Makeup

Special effects that were once only seen in big-budget horror movies are now available at the local costume shop during Halloween season. You can apply many of these effects fairly easily and with just a few extra accessories. The key to a special effect like a bullet wound is the right preparation.

Instructions

    • 1

Check all products that you'll apply to the face to make sure that they're nontoxic and safe. If the product specifies that it's not to be applied to the skin, don't use it.

    • 2

Wash and dry the area of the face and around the eye where you'll apply the appliance completely. Excess oil or moisture keep the adhesive of the appliance from adhering completely and makes it more difficult to apply makeup.

    • 3

Cover the eye area with a medical bandage that's bordered in adhesive. Place the bandage over the eye so that the eye is completely covered and press adhesive firmly down around the border so that no applied adhesive or makeup will come in contact with the eye.

    • 4

Tilt the head back after applying the medical bandage around the eye area. It's important to remain completely still when applying the liquid adhesive.

    • 5

Apply an even coating of liquid adhesive over the entire surface of the bandage, beginning in the center and working your way out. Spread the adhesive over the bandage evenly and smoothly to make it easier to apply the appliance. Carefully remove any lumps or thick areas by smoothing them out and removing any foreign matter.

    • 6

Spread the adhesive all the way to the edge of the medical bandage where its edge meets the skin around the eye. This minimizes the amount of adhesive that you need to removed from the skin later and will also help the appliance stay in place once it's been applied.
