To look good in shorts, you'll need to try out a variety of styles and find the one that works best with your body type. Of course, it never hurts to pay extra attention to grooming the skin on your legs, and it helps to wear shorts that are appropriate for their purpose.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Moisturizing lotion
  1. Step 1

Match the shorts you wear to their purpose. Amass a collection of different shorts styles, such as jogging, casual, beach, long-leg and short shorts or hot pants. That way, you'll have plenty to choose from and just the right pair on hand for all occasions.

  2. Step 2

Tone your legs by performing simple muscle-building exercises or engaging in some weight-training activities.

  3. Step 3

Shave your legs regularly. Many women who shave tend to get a little lax in the off-summer months, figuring they're not often wearing any clothing that doesn't cover them completely. However, if you want to look good in shorts, even when you're at the gym, smooth, hair-free legs are recommended.

  4. Step 4

Use lotion to moisturize your legs frequently.

  5. Step 5

Avoid tan lines on your legs, particularly if you wear socks with your shorts. If you get tan lines, try some self-tanning lotion to create a smooth and unified skin tone.

  6. Step 6

Avoid getting nicks and cuts on your legs when you shave, and if you get mosquito bites on your legs when you're wearing shorts, resist the urge to scratch them. Scabs and cuts on bare legs tend to draw the wrong kind of attention.

  7. Step 7

Take your time when trying shorts on in the store. Look at the shorts from all angles, using facing mirrors to inspect your back side. Mix and match the colors and styles of the shorts you buy, so that they match tops in your wardrobe.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cellulite deposits can be unsightly in the wrong pair of shorts. If you suffer from this condition, it's advisable to wear longer shorts to keep problem areas covered.
  • When wearing shorts in the summertime, always apply sunblock throughout the day if you're going to be outside in the sun. No matter what kind of shorts you wear, you won't look good if you develop melanoma.
