The key to following horse racing blogs is to have clarity of purpose. Blogging has provided an even platform for people to publish information, demonstrate knowledge and express opinions. It also provides a mechanism for engaging in discussions and being part of a community of people interested in horse racing.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Identify your purpose in following horse racing blogs. Different blogs focus on various aspects of horse racing. Some are geared towards beginners while others are for the more experienced. If you are interested in a particular race track, check whether there are blogs dedicated to those tracks.
Step2
Find a list of horse racing blogs on BlogRankings (see Resources below).
Step3
Try blogs like Sure2Profit to learn how to improve your bets and win more (see Resources below).
Step4
Create a list of blogs you want to follow. Use a blog search engine like the Google Blog Search to help you create such a list (see Resources below). Use different search terms like "handicapping," "horse racing" and "Kentucky Derby" to see a list of related blogs.
Step5
Visit each blog and browse through some posts before you decide whether you want to follow that blog. Make sure the topics are geared towards your level of expertise. If you find the content informative, feel comfortable with the tone of the blog posts and are able to participate in the discussion by commenting on the posts, bookmark the blog and move on to the next one.
Step6
Subscribe to the RSS feed of each blog. Subscribing to the RSS feed will enable you to read excerpts of each post without actually visiting the website. Some blogs send alerts to you whenever new content is posted on the blog.
Step7
Use an online feed reader like Google Reader or download a desktop version like Omea Reader to aggregate all your blog feeds (see Resources below). With an aggregator, you can follow multiple blogs with ease and quickly scan through the posts. You can click to read the content of only those posts that interest you.
Step8
Look for links to other websites on the blogs you visit. Most blogs have a list of links, called blogroll, to related sites. You can locate more blogs on horse racing by following those links.

Tips & Warnings

  • Only participate in a discussion by commenting in a blog if you have a question or something to contribute. Don't engage in ego battles. That could lead to getting banned from further commenting.
