How to deal with a pushy salesman

If you encounter a pushy salesperson then you know how annoying they can be. Even if you are rather reserved you may feel like screaming at them to back away. Most salesperson's work off commission and are being pushy only thinking about their personal gain, not yours!

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

1. Knowing a few ways that you are correctly address them before you blow up and lose your composure...
   
   * DO NOT feel pressured into buying ANYTHING! You do not owe them anything and it is up to you and only you whether you purchase anything.
   
   * Let them down gently at first. Tell them that you are only browsing and if you have any questions you will be sure to find them and ask them.
2. * DO NOT be intimidated! All to often the salesperson in a sense bullies the person into a purchase. Think for yourself and know when to say no. If they are simply bugging the heck out of you then ask them to allow you to browse for awhile and you will get back to them if you choose.
   
   * When you first spot a salesperson coming to you to greet you simply tell the that you are just browsing and will get to them if you have any questions. Making the first move puts you in charge and allows them to see you are not intimidated.
3. * Take along a friend to go shopping with you. When there are two or more of you to tell the salesperson to back off it can be easier. You are also less likely to me attacked by a crazy salesperson trying to make that sale. Also there is someone else there to ask for any advice before making any purchase.
   
   * If you have told the salesperson that you are just browsing and they continue to bug you simply smile and say, "I will get back to you if I have any questions, thank you." If they still bug you simply ignore them! If they are bugging after you have tried to politely turn their help down then they do not deserve your time.
4. * if they are irritating you after attempts at turning them down nicely, ask to see their manager. Tell the manager the problem and then they should get the hint that you want to be left alone. Most of the time though the manager is the one pushing the salesperson to push the customers into making a sale.
   
   * Leave the store! If you are simply fed up with a salesperson's ways then go to another store. They are losing a sale completely do to the pushy salesperson and you can even call th stores headquarters and complain.
5. Going to certain stores these days you just know that you will be hounded by salespeople. Knowing the way to deal with them can make all the difference in your shopping experience. First and foremost try to deal with them in a respectable manner. Most salespeople are only doing there job and will back off after you explain to them that you are just looking. While you are there to browse and buy they are trying to earn a living.
   
   Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully upon first meeting them. So try to be polite at first before you attempt anything else!
