The Caribbean is as beautiful as it is rich in history. Wealthy landowners and slaves, pirates and plantation dwellers all add up to scandal, drama and, of course, paranormal activity. Next time you plan a Caribbean vacation be sure to include a few stops to meet up with some of the ghosts of the area.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Camera
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Ghost-busting equipment
Step1
Barbados North Point ~ http://www.sxc.hu/photo/127753 Perhaps the most well-known paranormal activity in the Caribbean revolved around the Chase Crypt in Christchurch Barbados. The Chase family had a chaotic relationship in life, and this turbulence extended into the afterlife as well. 2 daughters and the Colonel Thomas Chase were meant to share a crypt, yet each time the crypt was entered the coffins were found moved in a violent manner. The crypt had been mortared shut and the sand on the floor undisturbed. What moved these sacred vessels? Now buried, the crypt remains empty to this day.
Step2
Rose Hall Plantation in Montego Bay is supposedly haunted by the infamous Annie Palmer. A mistress of the plantation, and known as the White Witch of Jamaica, Annie practiced voodoo when not busy mistreating slaves or murdering her rich husbands. Now the site is available for tours and many ghostly occurrences have been reported including whispered voices, unseen footfalls and the sound of crying children.
Step3
Port au Prince cemetery in Haiti is said to host some spooky full body apparitions so be sure to visit with a camera to see if you can catch any of the "locals" on film!

Tips & Warnings

  • Talk to the locals to find out about more spooky areas to visit. They will clue you in to the local lore and superstitions.
