Becoming a licensed day care provider can be a long process, but can be rewarding. If you are a babysitter, chances are you will not need a license, but if you plan to care for more than three children during work hours, you are considered a daycare provider, and will need a license.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Contact your local child care licensing office for all information you may need. The website: www.childcare.net/licensing provides each states local offices.

  2. Step 2

    You must fill out an application.

  3. Step 3

    You must describe objectives for the plans for the children.

  4. Step 4

    You must have insurance coverage.

  5. Step 5

    Get certified in CPR and First Aid. (Check local hospitals for classes)

  6. Step 6

    Must have a floor plan of area used for daycare.

  7. Step 7

    You will have to get your home (or place of daycare site) inspected by a fire marshal, and an escape route planned in case of a fire.

  8. Step 8

    All state requirements are different, be sure to check with your local child care licensing office for all the facts.
