Read on to learn how to write a poem to your beloved.

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper and pen
  • Thoughts of your beloved
  • Creativity and imagination
  1. Step 1

    Think about your beloveds essential qualities. What are those qualities that made you fall in love with him or her? Write a poem that describes what you love most about your beloved. Be very detailed and specific.

  2. Step 2

    Make a list of all the things your beloved brings into your life. Make a list poem that expands on each of the things that you wrote in your list. Use specific details and strive for honesty regarding your feelings.

  3. Step 3

    Develop a metaphor of your loved ones best qualities. An oak tree might reflect the quality of strength and a sense of majesty. The ocean might reflect the quality of endless depth and endurance. Add specific details that describe the metaphor.

  4. Step 4

    Play with rhyme and rhythm. Move words around to change the flow of the poem. Use a thesaurus to try different words that convey the same meaning.

  5. Step 5

    As always, take the time to edit and rewrite several times. You want this type of poem to be perfect.

  6. Step 6

    Share your poem with your beloved. Make a candlelight dinner and read your poem to him or her after dinner.
