Little Rock offers more than just a little support to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender residents. An added bonus of living in the capital of the Razorback State is proximity of Eureka Springs, a veritable GLBT paradise.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Seek out the new LGBTQ Center for support, advice and actitivies.

  2. Step 2

Check out the nightlife. Gay and lesbian bars include The Aquarium, Backstreet Complex and The Factory.

  3. Step 3

Visit the city of Eureka Springs. In just four hours, you can be in this GLBT haven and the home of Diversity Pride. This pride group holds fall and spring diversity weekends featuring dances, comedy shows and art shows.

  4. Step 4

Get to know the American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas in Little Rock. The ACLU is very much invested in the GLBT community.

  5. Step 5

Be proud. Little Rock Capital Pride takes place in June. Events and volunteer opportunities occur year-round, so you can get to know other gays and lesbians through the pride organization.

  6. Step 6

Talk it up. Chat with your GLBT comrades through the Out in Little Rock website.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you’re a student, check out the University of Arkansas GLBT group.
  • Use your gaydar and your common sense to determine if a situation feels safe. Arkansas is still the Deep South and slow to accept gays and lesbians.
