If you knit with ribbon yarn, you know that joining yarn to a new ball when you run out can result in a bulky knot that can show up in your work. There's a much easier way to join the yarn quickly and easily that won't show up in your work at all!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Two balls of ribbon yarn to join
  • Sewing needle
  • Sewing thread same color as ribbon yarn
Step1
Thread your sewing needle with a short length of doubled thread.
Step2
Overlap the ends of the ribbon yarn, leaving about one inch of overlap.
Step3
Using the sewing needle, sew small overcast stitches along one edge of the overlap, then overcast your way to the other edge, and sew small overcast stitches along that end, as well.
Step4
Tie off your thread. Now you've joined your yarn quickly and easily and it won't show up in your work at all!
