How to Sync Frontpage 2003 With a Website

When transferring files and folders between your computer and a remote site in FrontPage 2003, you have three options. Transferring files from your computer to the remote site, transferring from the remote site to your computer or synchronizing the two, which means you will be transferring files both from your computer to the remote site and from the remote site to your computer. Therefore, any new or changed pages on either the remote site or the local site will be altered or updated. If any pages are identical on both the remote site and the local site the newer version (determined by the timestamp) will overwrite the older one. Keep in mind that when you transfer files from the remote web site to your computer, you run the risk of picking up any malicious files that may have been placed on the remote site. Things You’ll Need:

• Your computer
• FrontPage 2003
• Remote web site

1. While you are logged on to your web site in Microsoft FrontPage, you will see two windows. One is Local Web Site, which is what is on your computer. The other is Remote Web Site, which is what is on the server. Select "Remote Web Site" in the View menu.
2. Towards the bottom right hand corner of the FrontPage window, you will see a button, which reads "Publish Web Site". Above that button are three options. "Local to Remote", "Remote to Local" and "Synchronize".
3. To synchronize the web site and your computer, choose synchronize and then click the Publish Web Site button.
