Things You'll Need:
- Anything you can read
- Tape recorder
-
Step 1
Use your time wisely. You will have an average of 20 seconds to answer. Although this might seem like not enough time, but if you are not ready these 20 seconds can seem like an eternity. Practice limiting your answers to 20 seconds.
-
Step 2
Look at the judges, they are the ones scoring you. Forget about the other contestants, the master of ceremonies and the audience.
-
Step 3
Breathe correctly. When we are nervous, we tend to talk faster than usual. Take a breath between each word in order to pace yourself correctly.
-
Step 4
Speak with enthusiasm. At this point of the competition the pageant is almost over and you will be tired. You want to let the judges know you are just as excited about being crowned as you were at the begging of the competition.
-
Step 5
Sound like a winner. You will be judge by the way you speak so make sure you have good diction, a strong vocabulary and the sound of your voice is that of a winner. It is not only important what you say, but also the way you say it.
