1
Make fake blood by mixing red food coloring and corn syrup. If you want an older looking blood, add a little blue food coloring to the mixture. If you want the blood to look clotty and really old, add a little cocoa powder to the mix. Mix well to get the consistency you want.

2
Take a small paintbrush or make-up brush and dab it into your fake blood mixture.

3
Create blood coming from the nose, eyes or ears with your small paintbrush. Start with a thick amount of blood coming from the nostril, corners of the eyes or lower ears and thin it out, as if blood is dripping from your orifices.

Apply liquid latex if you want to create raised, wrinkly or flakey skin for your zombie costume. Apply two or three coats of liquid latex to the area you want, allowing it to dry between applications. You can rip holes in it, rub it or pick at strips of it to make it look like your skin is peeling off. Apply your blood mixture, using your paintbrush after the liquid latex has dried to make the gashes look fresh.
