When you put together your own wedding flowers, you want to make sure that they look as beautiful as possible. Many brides choose to arrange their centerpieces, corsages and bridal bouquets. After creating your bridal bouquets, you need to remove the dead petals from the flowers.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Examine the flowers for any petals with brown edges or that look as if they're wilting away from the flower.

  2. Step 2

Tear the petals away from the flower. Remove the petal from the bottom and make sure that the entire piece pulls away. You may want to go back over the petals once you pull them away to check if they were completely removed.

  3. Step 3

Dispose of the dead petals or use them to throw down the aisles. If the petals are in pretty good shape, you can use them to fill the flower girl's basket. This is especially true in the case of rose petals.

  4. Step 4

Decide if the flower is salvageable. If you are using roses in your bridal bouquet, then you can remove the outside petals without destroying the aesthetics of the flower. However, if you need to remove the petals of other flowers, like daisies, you may have to replace the flower with a new one.

Tips & Warnings
  • Watch the leaves and stems of the flower when you are removing the petals. You don't want to damage the rest of the flower in the process.
  • If you are throwing away the petals, put them in a closed receptacle right away to prevent them from releasing a foul odor into the air.
