You've been growing your Venus flytraps for a while, and want to move them into a different pot, but you don't want to stress out these interesting plants. Luckily, transplanting Venus flytraps is as easy as transplanting other plants with a few quick steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wait until your Venus flytrap is a few years old and is large and healthy before transplanting it. The best time to transplant it is when it's dormant.

  2. Step 2

Fill the bowl or pot with soil specific for Venus flytraps. You will want a soil with sphagnum moss and sand that is acidic. Avoid packing in the soil and try to leave it loose for the roots.

  3. Step 3

Remove the Venus flytrap from its old pot, being careful not to tug or break off any of the leaves or stems. Gently remove the excess soil around the roots.

  4. Step 4

Make a shallow hole in your soil and gently put the plant into the hole.

  5. Step 5

Pat the soil around the Venus flytrap. Avoid packing it down and don't cover up any of the leaves.

  6. Step 6

Give your Venus flytrap a good watering, and make sure the soil stays moist.

Tips & Warnings
  • Many experts recommend transplanting a Venus flytrap every two years, while others say if it's healthy and thriving, leave it alone.
  • Avoid transplanting your Venus flytrap after just buying it. Leave it in the pot it came in for a little while.
  • After transplanting your plant, leave it alone, as transplanting does stress Venus flytraps.
